Adding Your First Panel

Panels are the building blocks of your Pithy dashboard. Each panel shows information from a service or integration. Let’s add one.

Step 1: Enter Edit Mode

Click the Edit Dashboard button in the header. The button turns green to show you’re in edit mode, and the Add Panel button appears.

Step 2: Click Add Panel

Click Add Panel to open the panel picker. You’ll see available panel types grouped by integration (Google, Microsoft, News, etc.).

Some panels show a “Setup” badge - these need you to connect an account first. For your first panel, try one that works immediately:

  • Weather - Shows weather for a location
  • BBC News or Hacker News - Headlines without login
  • Web Content - Display content from any URL

Step 3: Configure Your Panel

Click a panel type to configure it. You’ll see:

  • Title - Name for this panel
  • Settings - Options specific to this panel type (e.g., location for weather)
  • Additional Instructions - Optional guidance for how to display content
  • Auto-refresh Interval - How often to update (in minutes)

Fill in the settings and click Save.

Step 4: Arrange Your Dashboard

Your new panel appears on the dashboard. While in edit mode, you can:

  • Drag the panel header to move it
  • Resize by dragging the orange handle in the bottom-right corner

Click Done Editing when you’re happy with the layout.

Panel Controls

Each panel has controls in its header (visible on hover):

  • Refresh - Update the panel’s content now
  • Settings - Change configuration
  • Delete - Remove the panel
